Born and lived in Lenton, Nottingham. Son of Henry and Emma Dalton, of 25, Midland Avenue, Lenton, Nottingham. Attended High Pavement School, Nottingham and was a lithographic artist prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action on 1st July 1916, aged 25, in the attack at Gommecourt, France on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
