Born at Heanor, Derbyshire and lived at Aldecar, Derbyshire. Son of William and Sarah Elizabeth Dakin, of 25, Ormonde Street, Aldercar. He was a coal miner and colliery horse keeper prior to enlisting at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He went to France 29th August 1915 and was killed in action, 29th March 1918, aged 24, whilst serving in the line near Vreley, France
