Lance Corporal Wilfred Keeling

Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Matlock, Derbyshire. Son of Alfred John and Sarah Ann Keeling, of Matlock Cliff, Matlock. He was a hosiery mill operative prior to enlisting at Derby. He went to France 28th July 1915 and was killed in action, 7th July 1916, aged 21, in the attack on the German positions at Quadrangle Support near Contalmaison, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
