Born in Stamford, Lincolnshire and lived at Retford, Nottinghamshire. Son of Joseph and Florence Cutler of 59 Albert Road, Retford. He was a railway engine cleaner with the Great Central Railway prior to enlisting on 19th May 1916 at Retford. He went to France 26th December 1917 and was killed in action,21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
