Corporal William Maynard Crump

Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born At Bedford. Son of Mr and Mrs Walter Crump; Husband of Mabel Crump, of 10, Cross Street, Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire. He was an iron turner prior to enlisting on 29th August 1914 at Nottingham. He was appointed Lance Corporal on 15th January 1915, promoted Corporal, 6th February 1915 and went to France on 18th May 1915. He suffered gunshot wounds to his right hip, 18th September 1916 and was admitted to 11 Stationary Hospital, Rouen, 19th September 1916. He was then transferred to England on Hospital Ship St. George, 6th October 1916 and died of wounds, 30th December 1916, aged 34, at St. Andrew’s Hospital, London.
