Born and lived at Matlock, Derbyshire. Son of Joseph Ludlam and Ann Crowther, of 2, Cobden Terrace, Matlock. He was employed by Matlock Urban District Council, prior to enlisting. He was transferred to 239483 Agricultural Company, Labour Corps and died on 8th December 1918, aged 31.

Buried: Matlock (St. Giles) Churchyard, United Kingdom.
