Son of Thomas and Alice Cross; Husband of Birdie F. M. Cross, of 6, Warmington Road, Half Moon Lane, Herne Hill, London. He enlisted at Camberwell, Surrey into the 2/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regimen. He was later transferred to the 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was killed in action, 24th March 1918, aged 35, in the German attack on the British line at Noreuil/Ervillers, France.
