Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Robert and Fanny Cox, of Wentworth, Rotherham, Yorkshire. He lived at 48 Hope Street, Brampton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a House Painter prior to enlisting on 11th December 1915 at Chesterfield. He went to France on 14th July 1916 and was killed in action, 29th October 1916, whilst serving in the line near Authuille, France during the Battle of the Somme.
Buried: Connaught Cemetery, Thiepval, France. Plot 3. Row K. Grave 6.
