Born at Nottingham and lived at Crown Street, Blue Bell Hill, Nottingham. Son of Frank and Elizabeth Cousins of Paxton Street, Nottingham. Husband of Hilda Birch (formerly Cousins), of 8, Newcastle Road, Meadows, Nottingham. He was an iron turner prior to enlisting 6th May 1912 at Nottingham. He went to France 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, 31st July 1915, aged 21, during the German attack near Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
