Born at Derby. son of William and Rose Ellen Cotterill, of 41, Westwick Street, Ilkeston. Derbyshire. Husband of Daisy Chilton (formerly Cotterill), of Cookly Villas, 157A, Nottingham Road, Ilkeston. He was a fitter’s labourer at Stanton Ironworks prior to enlisting on 26th June 1914 at Ilkeston. He went to France on 26th February 1917 and was killed in action, 26th September 1917, aged 24 in the attack on Otto Farm at Gravenstafel, near Ypres, Belgium.
