Born 2nd May 1896 at Hampstead, London. Son of Charles and Lillian Copland, of 77, Broadhurst Gardens, Kilburn, London. He was educated at St. Pauls’ Cathedral Choir School and Denstone College, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. He went to France on 26th October 1914. Was commissioned Second Lieutenant 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 2nd March 1915. He was killed in action, 9th May 1915, aged 19, in the attack at Rouge Bancs, Near Aubers Ridge, France.
