Lance Corporal John Francis Cope
Army Number: 11053 (formerly 2848)
Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Willington, Derbyshire. Son of Leonard Loius and Mary Elizabeth Cope, of Canal Side, Findern, Derbyshire. He was a labourer prior to enlisting 7th October 1908 at Derby. He served in India from 7th October 1909 to 2nd October 1914. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action, on 22nd November 1914, whilst in the trenches near Richebourg, France.
