Born and lived at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. Son of Thomas and Mary Ann Cooper, of Hucknall. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting at Ilkeston. He went to Gallipolli in 1915 and died of wounds at sea aboard Hospital Ship Massilia, 3rd December 1915.
