Private John Joseph Cooper

Army Number: 73180 (formerly 16556 Lincolnshire Regiment)

Battalion: 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Irnham, Lincolnshire. Son of John Thomas and Elizabeth Cooper, of Irnham, Lincolnshire. He was a waggoner prior to enlisting on 27th April 1915 at Grantham, Lincolnshire. He went to Gallipoli on 27th September 1915 and suffered gunshot wounds to his face in November 1915 and was transferred to England. On recovery, he was transferred to the 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, May 1916. He was killed in action, 9th April 1917, age 25, in the attack at Hill 60 near Ypres, Belgium.
