Born and lived at Sheepbridge, Derbyshire. Son of Herbert Frederick and Ruth Cooke, of 26 Sheffield Road, Sheepbridge. Husband of Elizabeth Cook, of 23 Hartington Road, Dronfield. He was an apprentice iron moulder prior to enlisting at Dronfield. He went to France 30th August 1915 and was killed in action, 13th August 1916, whilst working on the trenches near Trones and Bernafay Woods, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
