Battalion: 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Eastwell, Leicestershire. Son of Elijah and Eliza Cooke, of Harby, Leicestershire. He was a farm servant, prior to enlisting 11th December 1915 at Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, into the 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps, 26th April 1916 and went to France on 25th June 1917. He was transferred to the 2/7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 30th September 1917 and was killed in action, 6th December 1917, whilst serving in the line at Ribecourt, France.
