Born and lived at Retford, Nottinghamshire. Son of Sam and Clara Cook; Husband of Adelene Harston (formerly Cook), of 22, Wellington Street, Retford, Nottinghamshire. He was a labourer prior to enlisting at Retford and went to France 16th December 1915 and was killed in action, 14th February 1916, aged 22, during heavy German shellfire and the explosion of a German mine, prior to the German attack of the front line trenches, near the canal to the south-east of Ypres, Belgium
