Born in Nottingham and lived at Cropwell Bishop, Nottinghamshire. son of Joseph Cook and Elizabeth Blades (formerly Cook). He was a farm servant prior to enlisting on 21st November 1913 at Nottingham. He went to France on 27th December 1914. Killed in action, 12th March 1915 during the attack and German counterattack at Neuve Chapelle, France.
