Born and lived at 9 Friar Street, Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Son of Edgar and Mary Ann Cook, of 24, Upper Wellington Street, Long Eaton. He was a butchers errand boy prior to enlisting 2nd November 1914 at Long Eaton. He was killed in action, 9th July 1918, age 20, during a daylight raid of the German trenches at Dickebusch, Belgium. He was awarded the Military Medal, London Gazette 13th September 1918.
