He was born and lived at Newark, Nottinghamshire. Son of George and Caroline Combes, of 1, Charles Street, Newark, Nottinghamshire. He enlisted at Newark and was killed in action, 7th April 1917, aged 18, during the attack at Le Verguier, northwest of Saint Quentin, France.
