British 1914 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn at Radford, Nottingham and lived at Nottingham. Son of Mary Colton. Husband of Emma Elizabeth Colton, of 15, Wyville Street, Radford, Nottingham. He was a whip and thong maker prior to enlisting 23rd February 1903 at Nottingham. He served in Hong Kong, from 6th March 1904 to the 6th December 1904 and Singapore 17th December 1904 to the 29th January 1906. He transferred to the Army Reserve 22nd February 1906 and became postman in civilian life. He was mobilised 5th August 1914 and was posted to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and went to to France 10th October 1914. He was killed in action, 9th August 1915, age 31, during the attack at Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
