Born at Newstead, Nottinghamshire, 12th March 1890. Husband of Mrs Collier, of the The Raven Hotel, Much Wenlock, Shropshire. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant 4th August 1915 with the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He went to France 1st February 1916 and joined the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment at Bronfay Camp, near Bonnay, France, 1st March 1917. He was killed in action, 23rd April 1917, in the attack on Bayonet Trench, near Arras, France.
