Born and lived at Nottingham. Son of Elwyn James and Mary Hannah Cocking, of 190, Blackstone Street, The Meadows, Nottingham. He was a joiner and undertaker prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France 25th February 1915 and was killed in action, 26th September 1917, in the attack near Vlamertinghe, near Ypres, Belgium.
