Husband of Florence Clarke, of 9, Irene Terrace, Chelmsford Road, Basford, Nottingham. He was a journeyman pork butcher prior to enlisting at Nottingham. he went to France on 7th May 1915 and was killed in action, 6th June 1917, aged 34, during the German shelling of the line at Bilhem Farm, near Neuville, France.
