Son of John Henry and Eliza Clarke, of 12, Leen Side, Nottingham. He was a French polisher and wood carrier prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 27th April 1917, aged 34, whilst serving in the trenches near Lievin, France.
Buried : Canadian Cemetery No.2, Neuville-St. Vaast, France. Plot 2. Row B. Grave 10.
