Born at Ewerby, Lincolnshire and lived at Sleaford, Lincolnshire. Husband of Alice Clarke, of 8, Claremont Place, Sleaford. He was a Carting Labourer prior to enlisting at Grantham, Lincolnshire. He was killed in action, 22nd June 1917, by German Shellfire at Yser Canal Bank, Belgium.

Buried : Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery, Belgium. Plot 1, Row C, Grave 21.
