Born at Worksop, Nottingham and lived at 19, Zulu Road, Basford, Nottingham. Son of William Henry and Margaret V. Clarke, of Plain Spot, Jacksdale, Nottingham. He was a grocer’s warehouseman prior to enlisting at Derby. He was killed in action, 1st July 1917, aged 25, whilst in the line at Souastre, France.
