His real name was George Arthur Gimson

Born at Nottingham and lived at 13 Regent Street, Beeston, Nottinghamshire. Son of Arthur and Annie A. Gimson, of 198, Queens Road, Beeston. He was a Lace Factory Hand prior to enlisting at Nottingham 27th August 1914. He was discharged, 23rd February 1915 as unlikely to become an efficient soldier.

He re-enlisted into the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment under the name George Henry Clarke and went to Gallipoli during 1915. Later he was posted to the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and was killed in action, 8th August 1916, aged 16, during the attack on Delville Wood, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
