Born in Nottingham and lived at Bertram Street, Nottingham. Son of Joseph and Mary Clark, of 15 Hertford Street, Nottingham. He was a printers labourer prior to enlisting on 4th July 1913 at Nottingham. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action, on 11th March 1915, aged 20, during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
