Born at Darnall, Yorkshire and lived at Carlton-in-Lindrick, Nottinghamshire. Son of Margaret Clare. Husband of Marie Clare. He was an audit clerk prior to enlisting on 9th December 1915 at Carlton-in-Limerick. He went to France on 26th February 1917 and was killed in action, 26th September 1917, on Otto France near Gravenstaefel, Belgium.
