Born at Chesterfield, Derbyshire and lived at 2 Schofield Yard, Chesterfield. Son of Michael and Julia Churchill o 6 Long Court Yard, High Street, Chesterfield. Husband of Mary Churchill, of 8 Wrights Row, New Tupton, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting 23rd August 1915 at Chesterfield. He went to France on 20th May 1916 and was killed in action, 20th July 1916 aged 39, by German shellfire whilst serving in the line near Bellacourt, France.
