Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Chorlton, of Furness Vale, Derbyshire. Husband of M. A. Chorlton, of Buxton Road, Furness Vale. He was a calico print works labourer prior to enlisting 29th November 1915 at Stockport, Cheshire. He went to France 11th January 1917 and died, 21st September 1917, aged 24, from shrapnel wounds to his right foot and hands at 37 Casualty Clearing station, Godewaersvelde, Belgium.
