Battalion : 8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Stragglethorpe, Lincolnshire. Son of Philip and Sarah Jane Chilvers, of Hawton Grange, Newark, Nottinghamshire. He was a farm labourer at Norwell, Nottinghamshire prior to enlisting on 24th November 1914 at Newark. He went to France on 28th June 1915 and suffered gunshot wounds to his back on 14th October 1915. He was transferred from No. 1 Casualty Clearing Station, Chocques, France to No. 5 Stationary Hospital, Abbeville, France and died of these wounds on 27th October 1915, aged 17.
Buried : Abbeville Communal Cemetery, France. Plot 3 Row C Grave 15.
