Battalion: 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born in Birmingham and lived at 196 Montague Road, Smethwick, Staffordshire. Son of Griffen Gibson Cheadle and Charlotte Cheadle, of 21, Full Street, Derby. He was a Silversmith prior to enlisting on 26th March 1915 at Derby. He went to France on 10th November 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 19, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
