Born at London 9th March 1881. Son of Charles and Edith Coralie Chatteris, of The Little House, Chalford, Gloucestershire. He was educated at Sherbourne and gazetted Second Lieutenant 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters 1st February 1900. He was promoted Lieutenant 19th March 1902. Served through the South African war 1899 to 1902 and retired with the rank of Honorable Lieutenant, joining the special reserve of officers. He then engaged in Forestry work in Siam for the Borneo Company of London. He returned to London to rejoin his regiment 24th December 1914, being promoted Captain in June 1915 and was killed in action at Hooge on the Ypres Salient 9th August 1915, age 32.
