Born at Palterton, Derbyshire. Son of Tom and Lizzie Chappell, of Scotland Yard, Palterton, Derbyshire. Husband of Esther Chappell, of 60, Medlock Street, Hulme, Manchester. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was killed in action, 26th September 1917, aged 28, in the attack at Wieltje, Belgium.

Died : 26th September 1917, age 28.
