Born at Cowbit Lincolnshire and lived at South Drove, Spalding, Lincolnshire. Son of Thomas and Susannah Chapman, of 88, Mayor’s Walk, Peterborough. He was a Farm Worker on his fathers farm prior to enlisting at Spalding. He was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, aged 27, during the attack near Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme.
