Battalion : 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Belmore, near Retford, Nottinghamshire, Son of John Thomas and Jane Isabella Chapman, of The Lodge, Babworth, Retford. He enlisted on 15th October 1914 at Retford. He was appointed Lance Corporal 22nd December 1914 and promoted Corporal 19th May 1915. He went to France and was transferred to the 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 19th December 1917. He was killed in action, 29th September 1918, age 26, in the attack at the St. Quentin Canal and the Hindenburg line,
