Born and lived at Bolsover, Derbyshire. Son of Richard and Barbara Chapman, of 13 Bolsover Hill, Bolsover. Husband of Hilda Chapman, of 43 East Street, Dinnington, Yorkshire. He was a coal miner at Bolsover Colliery prior to enlisting on 12th December 1915 at Bolsover. He went to France on 28th October 1918 was wounded on 6th November 1918 and died of these wounds, 8th November 1918, aged 24, at 50 Casualty Clearing Station, Premont, France.
Buried : Premont British Cemetery, France. Plot 2, Row E. Grave 10.
