Born at Basingstoke, Hampshire. Son of James Charter and Mrs Anne Bennett (formerly Charter) He enlisted at Welbeck, Nottinghamshire. and died in hospital in Malta from wounds received in Gallipoli 1st September 1915.

Buried : Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta. Plot B. Row 7. Grave 5.
