Born and lived at Bradmore, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Nancy Challands, of Bradmore. He enlisted at Nottingham and went to France on 14th July 1915. He died in a military hospital, 2nd July 1918, aged 21, of pneumonia and influenza,

Buried : Bunny (St. Mary) Churchyard, United Kingdom. Near North boundary.
