Private William Joseph Catlin
Army Number: 103480 (formerly 22861 Bedfordshire Regiment)
Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Bedford. Son of William and Mary Ann Catlin, of 37, Dunville Road, Queen’s Park, Bedford. He was a fitter and labourer prior to enlisting on 21st October 1915 at Bedford. He went to France on 19th May 1916. He was wounded in his left thigh on 18th April 1917 and was admitted to the 7th Canadian General Hospital on 20th April 1917 and was transferred to England on Hospital Ship Brighton, 28th April 1917. He returned to France on 18th July 1917 and received a gunshot wound to his face on 30th October 1917. He was admitted to the 3rd Canadian General Hospital, Camieres and onto England on Hospital Ship Jan Breydel, 3rd November 1917. He returned to France on 5th April 1918 and was transferred to the 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 7th April 1918 and died on 8th April 1918, aged 22, of pneumonia.
