Battalion : 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Meir, Staffordshire. Son of David Smith and Gertrude Hannah Cartledge, of 16 Station Road, Meir. He enlisted at Brocton Camp, Staffordshire and was killed in action, 9th October 1918, in the attack on the German positions near Le Cateau, France.
Buried : Busigny Communal Cemetery Extension, France. Plot 3, Row C, Grave 24.
