Born at Thorney, Cambridgeshire and lived at Market Deeping, Lincolnshire. Son of John and Elizabeth Ann Carter of Towngate, Market Deeping, Lincolnshire. He was a stud groom. He enlisted at Worksop, Nottinghamshire 26th August 1914, and went to Gallipoli on 1st July 1915 He was killed in action, 28th July 1915.
