He Lived at Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Husband of Mrs Julia Markham (formerly Carter), of 40 Mia Terrace, Long Eaton, Derbyshire. He enlisted at Derby and went to France on 11th October 1915 and was killed in action, 5th August 1916, whilst serving in the trenches near Mametz Wood, France during the Battle of the Somme.
