Born at Nottingham and lived at 21 Dowson Street, Bluebell Hill, Nottingham. Son of Joseph Ernest and Eliza Carnall, of 209, Gordon Road, Nottingham. He enlisted 23rd March 1915 at Nottingham and went to France 27th October 1915. He was killed in action, 30th May 1916, age 18, whilst serving in the line at Foncquevillers, France.
