Private Charles Cain

Born at Kennington, Surrey. Son of Charles and Amelia Cain. Husband of Helen Margaret Cain, of 156, Third Avenue, Queens Park, Paddington, London. He enlisted at London 18th April 1916 and went to France 24th May 1916 and was transferred to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 24th September 1917. He suffered a gunshot wound to his right hand 25th February 1918 and was treated at 41 Casualty Clearing Station at Gailly, France. He was transferred to No. 2 General Hospital, Le Havre, France 26th March 1918. He rejoined his battalion and was killed in action, 23rd April 1918, aged 40, near Awa Pun Camp, Vierstraat, Belgium.
