Son of Frederick and Sarah Javes, of 402, Nottingham Road, Old Basford, Nottingham. He was a Bleacher prior to enlisting on 22nd March 1915 at Nottingham. He went to France on 27th October 1915 and died of wounds, on 1st July 1916, aged 34, received in the attack on Gommecourt, France during the first day of the Battle of the Somme.

Buried: Warlincourt Halte British Cemetery, Saulty, France. Polt 6, Row C, Grave 15.
