Born in Newark, Nottinghamshire. Son of Mr W. Nicholson of 19, Tenter Buildings, Appleton Gate, Newark. He enlisted at Newark and went to France on 2nd March 1915. He was awarded the D.C.M (London Gazette 11th March 1916) ” For conspicuous gallantry when assisted an officer to put to flight a patrol of superior strength. In this, he was wounded. He has repeatedly done good work on patrol duty” He was killed in action on 26th April 1917.
