Born at Wirksworth, Derbyshire and lived at 47, Green Hills, Wirksworth. Son of Joshua and Mary A. Oldfield, of Wirksworth; Husband of Julia Oldfield, of Bowling Green Lane, Wirksworth, Derbyshire. He was a stone quarry labourer prior to enlisting on 28th March 1912 at Wirksworth. He was killed in action, 5th October 1918, aged 24 in the attack on the German positions at Guizancourt Farm, France.
